Description
When the water is rising it is wise to head for higher ground. Since I had managed to separate myself from the student body by being too slow and unsettled on the cobblestones and steep grades of Rome — I was set ‘free’ to wander the dark streets; a poor wayfarer set loose in an ancient city with only my camera and an iPhone 6s. I knew they were going to read up on a hill. I was unsure which hill. I looked for a hill. I tried one — seemed not ‘hilly’ enough so I tried a second. It was very much a hill. I rose into the light and, low — it was either the wrong hill or they had escaped down another decline into the Trastevere in search of basilicas that I would never see.
