Description
I really enjoyed my solitary climb to not the summit of the Count of Aquino’s castle. Not that I did not enjoy the company of the Hat and his students, I did. It was that they all shot like rabbits up the trail to the top. I required some lallygagging here and there on the benches, and leaning on the guardrails. Someone had taken quite a bother building a wooden plank trail along with stairs and seats as the trail switched backed its way to the top. When it failed all together requiring further gain to be obtained by climbing up a gravelly stone rise on all fours that dissuaded me from further altitudes. My slow ascent allowed me the time to see what was around me, and down the mountain from me without the constant moving on of youth. Rocks, 13th century castle foundations, lizards, weeds, bees, butterflies, blue skies, an amazing views of the Valle di Comino, distant mountains, Roccasecca from above, and wild yellow daisies intermixed with wild white hydrangea. It was a form of perfection.
